A specter of sun,
Breaking through dark canopies,
Lighting roads once dark,
In the light all is too stark.
Shine through the canopy of my mind,
Bring light to deepest roots,
Shine on till the roots touch the soil.
Don't become too bright, don't melt, don't fret,
Rise over the horizon,
And never be swallowed by the sea,
Rise and Stay,
Like all of life served onto a tray,
Rise over the tree's canopy,
As elegant shafts of light in my mind play.
The long winter's night has been left to fray,
This long sought summer,
Please stay...
Breaking through dark canopies,
Lighting roads once dark,
In the light all is too stark.
Shine through the canopy of my mind,
Bring light to deepest roots,
Shine on till the roots touch the soil.
Don't become too bright, don't melt, don't fret,
Rise over the horizon,
And never be swallowed by the sea,
Rise and Stay,
Like all of life served onto a tray,
Rise over the tree's canopy,
As elegant shafts of light in my mind play.
The long winter's night has been left to fray,
This long sought summer,
Please stay...

Tranquil words, nicely done.
ReplyDeleteSummer's dreams are fine. But now, more importantly, Spring has begun!
ReplyDeleteExquisite work!
ReplyDeleteWords flow from the heart! To be so! :)
ReplyDeletelove the flowing...yes !
ReplyDeleteThe longing of warmth is soon over.. Love the gentleness of your words.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty still linger and fill me with warmth in this read.. wonderful
DeleteLooking forward to it ~ I specially like this part:
ReplyDeleteBring light to deepest roots-
I came to repay your visit, but more so to thank you for understanding my words. And find this soft gentle reflection that digs down to those deepest roots, bringing them the nurture they so need. But then you introduce me to a song/singer/musician who reminds me of a long ago friend who helped me begin my own journey. I listened to the song (even found a version that included the lyrics) three times and reread your words. All I can say is thank you from those deepest roots.

How eloquently put! Thanks you so much !
DeleteSuyashJ,
ReplyDeleteThere is a longing for the end of winter and the arrival of spring and summer..I too wish for these seasons to arrive and also, to stay...Poetic images with your well chosen words..

I agree--we all need the sun and warmth to stay :) I really enjoyed your poem.
ReplyDeleteThis poem is really a beautiful metaphor. I really like the idea of a specter of sun breaking through a dark canopy (of the mind) and bringing light (enlightenment) to a person & then eventually out FROM the person as well ('rise over the horizon'). Really this is a beautiful poem...well worth writing (and reading).
ReplyDeletethose were the exact metaphors i was going for
DeleteAlthough I hate summers,... your words makes me want to wish that summers stay!
ReplyDeleteThe advent of summer is a gracious thing.
ReplyDeleteSpring and the coming of summer are indeed lovely especially when other seasons are dark and gray.

DeleteThis has a lovely dramatic feel to it.
ReplyDeletewe all are hoping the same as ice is clinging to my pine trees this morning
ReplyDeleteThe cabin fever is palpable.
ReplyDeleteThat canopy is always a lovely place to be in the summer to come - you create beauty with your words. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteSummer will certainly follow but spring is to be enjoyed first. The greenery of the canopy is a blessing not to be missed!
